With a history that has lasted for a century and a half, the Viareggio Carnival never ceases to amaze us and give us unique emotions. Since 2001, the Carnival Citadel has been the largest complex in Italy dedicated to the processing of floats and masks, complete with cutting-edge workshops and laboratories for carnival creation.
Allegorical floats, which can exceed a height of 20 meters, and themed masks will parade through the streets of the city, surrounded by the classic festive atmosphere that so distinguishes this event and by fireworks.
The dates of the 2022 edition are Sunday 20, Thursday 24 and Sunday 27 February, Tuesday 1, Saturday 5 and Saturday 12 March.
During the last event, the judges will declare the winner among the competing floats, thus concluding the party for which the entire city has dedicated work and passion throughout the year.
Also this year in Florence the ancient tradition of Carnival celebrations will come to life again.
The entire city will come to life with a series of themed parties and events: the shows that will be held in Parco Pazzagli and the Giardino del Gasometro will be dedicated to the little ones; the Tuscany hall and Villa Tolomei will host, on the other hand, masked parties complete with dinner and to follow DJ sets; at the Football Museum of Coverciano, Sunday 27 February at 3 pm, visitors will be able to show up with the jersey of their favorite team for a shot in the court of champions or inside the exhibition path next to the 2020 Euro Cup or in front of the Azzurri shirts .

The Carnival of Foiano della Chiana, one of the oldest in Italy dating back to 1539, will not fail to give us a show that lives up to its name this year as well. The streets of the town will be crossed by allegorical papier-mâché floats, made by the four competing yards, which will ensure the unfolding of the parade and will engage in spectacular choreography.
The dates of the event will be Sunday 20 and Sunday 27 February; Sunday 6, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 March.
The Follonica Carnival is the only one that does not stop in February but also resumes in July with parades of allegorical floats for the Summer Carnival. In this event, which recently turned 100, each competing district works throughout the year to create a specific float which will then join the others in the final parade to win the final prize.
This year’s edition will hold on Friday 15 July, in the usual Salciaina circuit, the revival parade of the Follonian Carnival 2022 which will see the floats return to the street, in a sort of ideal closure of the event, interrupted immediately after the conclusion of the 2020 parades. and the masks of the last edition two years ago. The Carnival Association together with the Mayor of Follonica Andrea Benini has in fact decided to postpone the release that originally should have taken place in February but which had never officially been defined in the dates, just waiting for the evolution of the national pandemic situation and local.
